You may have a baby in your arms right now but believe me, you'll blink and they'll be all grown up! At least that's what happened to me. My daughter has grown into a beautiful young lady and is now 18- although I can still vividly see her cheeky baby face when I close my eyes.
Watching and nurturing a tiny person through their life to adulthood is by far the most precious and beautiful thing I have ever done and I have so many memories that all hold their own emotions (first words, steps, day at nursery/school/college) but sadly, there will also be a lot of things I have forgotten.
Life is busy and a lot of parenthood is spent juggling mundane tasks, activities, work, etc. and carrying 'the mental load' and therefore some of our most precious little moments can get swept along with the overload and simply forgotten as we as mums are BUSY! This can lead to us not always living 'in the moment', time is flying passed and we have a million things in our head to get done before the day is over.
Now my daughter is 18 I wish I could go back through time and pick up all of the lost and forgotten memories of the sweet, funny little girl she was all those years ago. I created a memory book of her first year which has brought us many of laughs (and a few tears from me too) but I would have loved to create a memory journal of her journey through life to 18.
The Story of Us is a guided journal from birth to 18 where those precious memories can live on forever and, let me tell you, it's a lot more than looking through a photo album, it's experiencing the feeling of being back in time and re-living your thoughts and emotions through the pages. I would have loved to have created this as a gift for my daughter.
This is a gift your child can share with their grandchildren and be passed from generation to generation. You could bury it in a waterproof container and create a time-capsule! But whatever happens to it, your child will always feel loved knowing you spent 18 years nurturing them and creating this beautiful bespoke keepsake for their special coming of age birthday. I do not know a better way of telling them you are proud to be their parent but by showing them you've loved every minute of having them in your life.
